COX’S BAZAR: Three people were killed and seven others injured in a road accident on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Sajid Hossain (24) of Khutakhali union of Chakaria, Mohammad Sobhan (67) of Cox’s Bazar sadar and Anwar Hossian (70) of Haji Para of Chakaria.

Police said a pickup van collided head-on with a jeep in Khutakhali area around 2:00pm, leaving three people dead and seven others injured.

The bodies were kept at Dulahazra Christian Memorial Hospital.

Of the injured, three were admitted to the aforesaid hospital while two were sent to Chakaria upazila health complex and two to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Chakaria-Pekua (circle) additional police super (ASP) Masud Alam said the bodies would be sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Both the vehicles have been seized, the ASP added.
