2-day workshop on disability underway

DHAKA: Bangladesh Protibandhi Kallyan Somity (BPKS) has arranged a two training program on rights of people with disabilities and disability related terminology on Saturday.

The workshop was inaugurated at BPKS office conference room in city’s Dakkhin Khan area at 11:00am.

Prime Minister’s media adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury attended the inaugural ceremony as chief guest, with BPKS founder Abdus Sattar in the chair.

Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Mofizur Rahman attended the program as special guest.

In his speech, Abdus Satter said people with disabilities have been contributing in country’s development for a long. It will be continued in future too.

He further said the government has signed UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2006 and has done some works for them.

But all of the facilities are not reached to the people with disabilities though government, the BPKS founder alleged.

Besides, BPKS project director presented his welcome speech.
