Collision kills 3, injures 7 in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ: At least three people were killed and seven injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Naimuri under Salonga thana in Ullapara upazila on Wednesday evening.

One of the deceased was identified as Sukumar Saha, 45, son of late Sushil Saha of Kalikapur village under Boraigram upazila in Natore district.

Witnesses and highway police said a badly driven truck rammed a Rajshahi-bound bus of Ultra Modern Paribahan on the Sirajganj-Hatikumrul-Bonpara road linking the Jamuna bridge, leaving three passengers of the bus dead on the spot and seven others wounded.

The bodies and the injured were sent to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Hatikumrul highway police station Din Bandhu Das said, “Having received information about the accident, police rushed to the spot and seized the bus and the truck.”

However, drivers and helpers of both the vehicles managed to flee the scene.
