DHAKA: Police is set to produce the extortionist hacker, who was nabbed under prevention of cyber crime law on Tuesday, before court on Wednesday with a seven-day remand petition.
Confirming the matter, investigating officer (IO) of the case Bhatara Thana sub inspector (SI) Ashraful Alam told banglanews that if the court granted the remand petition, police will try to get more information through further interrogation.
The extortionist hacker identified as Abdullah Al Fahad, 21 has been involved with various kinds of cyber offences including extortion and fraudulent activities.
In primary interrogation, he admitted of his involvement in extortion collection by hacking.
Very recently, Abdullah Fahad demanded Taka one lakh from Banglanewstwentyfour.com news portal by hacking. The extortion money was demanded by email.
Searching the email Rab-4 caught Fahad on Tuesday morning at 11 am.
Rab-4 officer Wares nabbed Fahad from Uttara of the capital. At initial interrogation Fahad has admitted his involvement in extortion. Fahad was picked up by Rab-4 in connection with a case filed with Bhatara police station by Banglanews authority, told Wares.
Another Rab official of Intelligence department told that proofs were available about the cyber crimes of Abdullah Fahad committed by him at different times. However he said various kinds of talks at different times.
Abdullah Fahad is a student of second year of computer science in private IUBAT University. His father is now working in defense services. He is living in Uttara, he told.
Before hacking Banglanews Fahad has tried to extort money from different organizations giving threats of hacking their web sites. The case was instituted under ICT Act 56.
