DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said water treatment plants are being set up in various areas to meet up the nation’s increased demand of drinking water.
Mentioning that supply is still less than the demand, she urged people not to waste water as system loss remains here.
The premier came up with the observations while inaugurating a water treatment plant in Munshiganj district via video conference from a city hotel on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister also directed the authorities concerned to reducing existing system losses.
Urging people to limit the use of water and mitigate its misuse, the Prime Minister said many saving their beards every morning keeping water tape running. It causes waste of huge amount of water. By avoiding this, it is possible to prevent the misuse and save water as well.
The primer highlighted the various initiatives – dredging, the proper use of rainwater – taken by her government to increase the supply of water and keep undisrupted flow of water in the rivers around the capital.
