Anti-adulteration drive in Dhaka from Monday ahead of Ramadan

DHAKA: Dhaka district administration with the assistance of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI) begins anti-adulteration drive Monday ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

“Two mobile courts will conduct drive on the first day while four mobile courts will be on the street during the Ramadan,” Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Mahibul Haque told banglanews24.com.bd.

“We will increase the number of mobile courts if necessary”, he said.

Field Inspector of BSTI Abu Syeed told banglanews24.com.bd that the anti-adulteration drive will be conducted under the Pure Food Ordinance-1959 (Amendment-2005), BSTI Ordinance-1985(Amendment-2003) and Weight and Measurement Ordinance- 1982 (Amendmend-2001).

Executive Magistrate of Dhaka Al Amin told banglanews24.com.bd that the mobile court may fine Tk 5000 to 200,000 under the Pure Food Ordinance-1959.

He also said that they will follow the Consumer Right Ordinance-2009 during the drive.
