DHAKA: Security measures have been beefed up at Dhaka Medical College Hospital following the murder attempt on writers and publishers in Lalmatia and killing of publisher Faysal Dipon in Shahbagh.
Police have been deployed at main corridor at the gate adjancent to DMCH emergency department. Suspected people are being allowed to entry after checking with metal detector.
Regarding the matter, DMCH police outpost Mozammel Haque said security measures have been boosted up as per directives of higher authorities. Suspected persons are being searched.
Wounded Suddhaswar's owner Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, poet Tareq Rahim and writer-researcher Ranadipam Basu are undergoing treatment at DMCH.
Earlier on Saturday, a gang of miscreants chopped two writers and a publisher, leaving them critically injured in city’s Lalmatia area.
According to DMCH physicians, the miscreants also shot publisher Tutul.
However, Tutul published several books of blogger Avijit Roy, who was slain on Dhaka University campus on February 26 of this year.
