CHITTAGONG: A police constable on traffic duty was killed as a defiantly driven microbus ran over him in Patia pourashava area early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Golam Mostafa, 43, hailed from Comilla.

Police and hospital sources said Mostofa asked a speeding microbus to halt at 1 am, but, defying the order, the driver drove the vehicle over the cop.

“Critically injured, he was being rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital when he died on the way,” says a spot account of the incident.

The killer microbus was later halted and seized in the city’s Mozafarbad area. However, the driver managed to flee, highway police said.
