Dhaka: An ill-driven bus ran down a bike-riding couple at capital’s Maghbazar level-crossing Saturday, police said, as fatal accidents seem to be occurring in a sequence in the city these days.

The duo deceased were Saiful Islam Sahin, 35, and his wife Shampa, 28. Sahin was a senior marketing officer of SEL group, and the couple hailed from Faridpur.

“The accident occurred when a Balaka Paribahan bus, on its way from Sayedabad to Gazipur, rammed the bike at Maghbazar rail-crossing,” Ramna police sub-inspector Mafizur Rahman said.

He informed that Sahin died on the spot while his wife was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital where on-duty doctors declared her dead on arrival.

An angry mob on the spot went on rampage, but police took control over the area and pacified the protestors.

Police could get hold of the bus while the driver fled the scene, another cop of the police station said.
