DHAKA: The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Thursday came up with the view that government’s employment projects could play an important role in banishing poverty from the country, and suggested replication of the schemes in poorer areas.

“The projects can be implemented through public-private partnership, if need be,” CPD says in its evaluation report.

"Projects should be medium and long-term so that it could become sustainable," said the assessment report of the policy think tank.

CPD published two evaluation reports in a meeting on ‘Challenge to Employment Creation Project for Ultra Poor and National Employment Projects’.

According to the report, the hundred-day ultra poor people’s employment project and national project for less-educated people would play a vital role in removing poverty from the country.

The reports also suggest replicating the projects for the poorer pockets in the country.

Besides, the training which will be provided for less-educated people should be applicable for private sector.

The CPD thinkers held the view that the government alone is unable to create the opportunity for all of them.
