DHAKA: At least five members of a family sustained burn injuries as a septic tank blasted at Faydabad area of Dakkhinkhan in city early Tuesday.

The injured were Romana Akhter, 30 and her daughter Monika, 8, Romana’s brother Imran Hossain, 28 and his wife Jannat Hossain, 19 and daughter Tasfia, 2.

Romana’s husband Mintu Mia brought the injured to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

On duty physicians told banglanews that Romana sustained 60 percent burn injuries while Monika sustained 20 percent, Imran 10 percent, Jannat eight percent and Tasfia sustained two percent burn injuries.

Fire service and civil defence headquarters duty officer Anjum Rashid confirmed the matter to banglanews.
