KOLKATA: Bangladesh government has appointed Sakhawat Hossain as the first assistant high commissioner at its assistant high commission in India province Tripura’s capital Agartala.
Bangladesh has upgraded its diplomatic mission and visa office at Agartala to further boost bilateral trade and diplomatic relations.
Earlier this week, Bangladesh foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali told a Dhaka seminar that they will soon set up a deputy high commission in India province Assam’s capital Guwahati.
Earlier, Sakhawat worked as consular head of Bangladesh high commission in Madrid.
Citing a foreign ministry official, media reported that the newly appointed assistant high commissioner will join office before December 16 for the celebration of Bijoy Dibas, the victory day of Bangladesh liberation war in 1971.
