DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that her incumbent Awami League (AL) government has taken 25 initiatives for women development across the country.
She upheld the initiatives at Rokeya Day celebration and Rokeya Padak distribution programs at Osmani Memorial Hall in city on Wednesday (December 9).
‘The initiatives include the increasing of reserved seats for women at the National Parliament from 45 to 50 and maternity leave from 4 months to 6 months.’
‘We are also providing maternity allowance for mothers to ensure nutrition for children,’ she added.
‘Writing of mother’s name along with father’s for the identification of children has been made compulsory,’ the PM added.
‘We have enacted laws to prevent repression and violence against women.’
The PM further said that her government is providing additional facilities for women entrepreneurs.
Mentioning the establishment of National Centre for Gender-Based Violence (GBV), the premier said that her government has been implementing scores of projects to stop child marriage and domestic violence against women.
Sheikh Hasina hoped that rural people will gradually get facilities of urban people in improving their lifestyle.
