2 bodies recovered in city

DHAKA: Bodies of two domestic helps were recovered from city’s Matijheel and Shahbag areas on Thursday afternoon (February 4).

The victims were identified as Halima Khatun Shilpi (16), daughter of Abdul Halim of Nalitabari uapzila of Sherpur district and Sapna (20), daughter of Abul Kashem of Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district.

Police recovered the bodies around 1:30pm on the day.

Matijheel Thana sub-inspector (SI) Rafiqul Islam informed banglanews, “House help Halima Khatun Shilpi’s body was recovered from Sonali Bank Staff Quarter in Matijheel”.

“It is primarily speculated that she committed suicide.”

On the other hand, Shahbagh Thana SI Moinul Islam said, “Sapna’s body was recovered from a flat at Abul Khair Building in city’s Bangabazar area”.

“She had been working as a domestic help in the flat for about 7-8 years. In the primary investigation, no clue to her death has been found.”

However, police have sent the bodies to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
