DHAKA: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday (March 8) upheld the death penalty awarded by International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 to Jamaat leader Mir Quasem Ali for his crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.
In response to a question from journalists regarding the verdict, Mir Quasem Ali’s family members said they will publish their reactions in a written statement.
A 5-member full bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha, pronounced the appeal verdict in the morning.
The other four members include Justice Mirza Hossain Haider, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Justice Hasan Foez Siddique and Justice Mohammad Bazlur Rahman.
The appellate division upheld the verdict for 11th number of charge.
