BRAHMANBAIRA: A suspected robber was killed in a gunfight with police in Dharmatirtha area on Sarail-Nasirnagar-Lakhai road of the district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Bashir Mia, of Gokorna village in Nasirnagar upazila.

Brahmanbaria additional police super M A Masud said a gang of robbers opened fire at a patrol team of police in Dharmatirtha area around 3:30am. 

In reply, police fire back that forced the robber to retreat the spot.

Later, police rescued bullet-wounded Bashir from the spot and sent to District Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at dawn.

A pipe gun was recovered from the spot, the police officer added.
