DHAKA: The Pakistan High Commission to Dhaka strongly condemned the media reports appeared in local press about one of its female diplomat’s alleged connection with financing to spread terrorism here and peddling fake currency to destabilize Bangladesh’s economy.
The high commission issued a press release claiming the reports as “utterly baseless”.
The release also said: “All diplomatic norms and courtesies have been thrown to the wind by publishing fabricated details of an imaginary “sinister plot” to destabilize the host country.
The media report said that the detectives came to know about Pakistan diplomat Farina Arshad’s link to financing terrorism from a member of banned Islamist outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
The information came to light during a strain in diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan over the latter’s denial about committing genocide in Bangladesh during the Liberation War in 1971.
