Tulip arrives in Bangladesh

SYLHET: British member of the parliament Tulip Siddiq, also granddaughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, along with her mother Sheikh Rehana arrived in Bangladesh on Monday morning.

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying them landed at Sylhet Osmani International Airport at 10:05am.

En route to Dhaka from United Kingdom, the two members of Bangabandhu family will now take a one-hour stopover in Sylhet Osmani International Airport.

Centering their stopover, security has been boosted in airport area.

During the time, top leaders of Sylhet district and metropolitan unit Awami League will meet her. Neither reception nor view exchange meeting will be arranged due to time shortage.

Sylhet metropolitan Awami League president and for city mayor Badar Uddin Ahmad Kamra told banglanews that daughter and granddaughter of Bangabandhu are set to arrive here on a week-long visit.

After being elected, Tulip Siddiq, Labour's new MP for Hampstead and Kilburn of UK, expressed her wish to visit Sylhet. But she will spend whole time with family members in Dhaka due to her illness.
