DHAKA: A two-day competition on mobile and web application development ‘Election Hackathon’ was organized from December 20 at Six Seasons Hotel at Gulshan-2 in city.
Team Static won the championship by developing an app ‘Election Bangladesh’ in the context of approaching municipal polls.
Members of the winning team were – Nazmus Sakib, Ridwanur Rahman and Samiul Islam.
The team ‘Bahon’ was selected as runner-up for developing the ‘Clean Vote’ app while ‘Code Hunters’ secured the third position in the competition with their app ‘Clean Vote’.
The winners were awarded with laptop, smart phones and other attractive gifts on Monday (December 21).
Web-portal Hifi Public, Asia Foundation, DANIDA, SIDA and UKAID organized the competition with the view to develop apps that will help raise awareness among the young voters and to provide the benefits of mobile and web apps to voters and candidates freely.
About 100 contestants participated in the competition from various universities and different info-tech institutes.
HiFi Public chief technology officer Shafkat Alam, G-Tech chief software engineer Zahid Ishaq, Software Global founder MM Muniruzzaman, G&R head of sales Latif Chowdhury, Asia Foundation senior program officer Nurul Islam and project manager Mir Junayed Jamal were mentors of the hackathon event.
