DHAKA: Hatirjheel project authority has started the circular bus service on Wednesday.

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain inaugurated the bus service at Sonargaon Railroad crossing of the route in the morning.

Primarily, four buses configured with seating for 27 passengers each will ply around the Hatirjheel project. The bus fare from Rampura to Karwanbazar has been fixed at Tk15.

There will be six stoppages in the route: Rampura, Madhubagh, FDC, Boubazar, Shooting Club and Merul Badda.

Minister Mosharraf Hossain said Hatirjheel has already been regarded as an icon project.

We will take an initiative of setting up an Opera here after the wishes of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.

The minister also said several other bridges will be constructed to connect the Hatirjheel with the Gulshan and Banani lakes.

Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government will take steps to complete the project following its design quickly.

Project director Major General Sayeed Masud, RAJUK chairman GM Joynal Abedin Bhuiyan and additional commissioner (traffic) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Khandaker Golam Faruk were, among others, present here.
