DHAKA: President Abdul Hamid Saturday asked judges to reduce the delay in justice as well as the number of pending cases, terming it the main challenges of the country’s judicial system.
He also asked the judges to pay highest sincerity in establishing rule of law while discharging their duties.
The President made the urges while inaugurating the National Justice Conference-2015 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in city around 11:30am on the day.
In the introductory speech, he also termed the separation of judiciary from executive body as a milestone of national development.
Mentioning justice a basic right for people, President Hamid said, ‘People expect it that you will be sincere in establishing the rule of law as well as discharging your duties neutrally’.
Urging to decrease delay in justice and pile of cases, the President said, “We do not want continuation of the proverb ‘Justice delayed, Justice denied’ in our judicial system”.
He said that the judges are the conscience of the nation; their wisdom, faith on constitution and law, commitment to people and the country play an important role in getting justice.
Unjustified delay in giving judgment or order is not acceptable any more, he opined.
Justices from Supreme Court Appellate Division and High Court Division and judges from lower courts, officials of judicial department of the country joined the conference.
