CHITTAGONG: Bangladesh Lighterage Workers Union has called off their countrywide indefinite strike on Saturday.

The strike, which was called on Friday, has been withdrawn following the rescue of the master and sukani, who were earlier kidnapped in the bay.

Bangladesh Lighterage Workers Union secretary general Shahdat Hossain said that the vessels plying is normal as they have withdrawn the strike.

Earlier on Thursday night, dacoits attacked MV Beauty of Bhagyakul. They and kidnapped its master and sukani and demanded Tk 5-lakh as ransom.

Later on Friday night, local administration rescued the hostages.
