DHAKA: The investigation agency of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) will start investigation into the war crimes allegations against 195 Pakistanis.
Data collection against them is going on and investigation will begin after receiving government instruction.
At a press conference, investigation agency chief coordinator Abdul Hannan Khan and senior coordinator Sanaul Haque revealed the information at investigation agency office at Dhanmondi in city on Sunday.
Pakistan, in 1971, returned their 195 soldiers with a promise to try them in Islamabad.
The 195 Prisoners of War (POWs), identified by Bangladesh as war criminals, were able to go back to Pakistan amid huge international pressure on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujuibur Rahman and his government.
These POWs include -- one lieutenant general, five major generals, 20 brigadiers, four colonels, 40 lieutenant colonels, 81 majors, 41 captains and two lieutenants of Pakistan Armed Forces.
Lieutenant General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi and Major Generals Nazar Hossain Shah, Mohammad Hossain Ansari, Mohammad Zamshed, Quazi Abdul Mazid Khan and Rao Farman Ali were among the prisoners.
