‘Prince of Kuwait’ wants to change Bangladesh

SOBHAN (KUWAIT): “I am a magician. I want to change my country with my magical touch. I hope I have the stage,” said Sahid Islam Papul (48), hails from Noakhali district and also known as ‘Prince’ among the Bangladeshi community in Kuwait.

Sahid has built up seven organizations where over 12,000 people including 10,000 Bangladeshis have been working. These organizations have more than 12 hundred vehicles.

Citizens of 31 countries are working under his direction. Kuwait Times and a good number of other Arab newspapers have published his interviews and stories as a role model businessman.

The MD and CEO of “Marafi Kuwetia” group has expanded his net of business including electrical construction, international money remittance, engineering maintenance (oil and gas), military support contract, waste management, logistic transportation, armed/non-armed/ IT security, fishing, export–import,  project management consultancy, sponsors of international brands and multinational products across Kuwait.

Sahid wants to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to extend his service to his motherland because as he thinks daughter of Bangabandhu has the courage as she is building the self-financed Padma Bridge not from any fascination or desire, but of sheer patriotism.

Sahid opined that bureaucratic complexity is the biggest barrier to engage in service for Bangladesh.

More than 10 million Bangladeshis stay abroad. Many young entrepreneurs have become really successful and took the image of Bangladesh to a new height.

They have connections with the politicians, social leaders, administrators and other influential people. Bangladesh government can use these personal relations to achieve collective success.

“The Prime Minister can open an NRB desk with successful entrepreneurs and also Non-Resident Bangladeshi (NRB) businesspeople that can directly invest by ignoring corruption, bureaucratic mismanagement and political situations. It will help develop the country,” he suggested.

“If the government helps us, we can create employment for about 10 lakh Bangladeshi people within five years in this region”, Shahid expressed optimism.
