4 killed in Sirajganj road mishap

SIRAJGANJ: At least four people were killed and another person injured in a road accident on Hatikumrul-Banpara highway at Naimuri area under Salanga Thana of the district early Tuesday.

Of the deceased, two were identified as Riaz, 45, hailed from Chala village and Jahidul, 27, son of one Ajhar Ali, from Roapara under the thana.

Officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul highway thana Abdul Quadir Jilani told banglanews that an onion-laden truck turned turtle as dense fog caused poor visibility in the area.

Meanwhile, a pickup van knocked five people while they were gathering onions here, leaving two people dead on the spot and three others injured, he added.

The injured were taken to Bogra Medical College and Hospital where two others succumbed to their injuries, OC Abdul Quadir Jilani added.

Police seized the pickup though the driver and helper managed to flee the spot, he added.
