DHAKA: Angur Nahar Monty of the Bangla daily ‘Bhorer Kagoj’ and Pantho Rahman of ‘Channel-I’ have been elected president and general secretary of Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) for 2016.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election of the 11-member Executive Committee were held at Heritage Restaurant in city on Tuesday (December 29).
Other elected office bearers are vice-president Salam Jubair (Sangbad), joint-secretary Jhumur Bari (Ekattor TV), treasurer AKM Moinuddin (UNB) and office secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Mishu (Jamuna Television).
Five elected members include Israt Jahan Urmi (ATN News), Mizanur Rahman (Dainik Manabzamin), Nurul Islam Hasib (BDNews24.com), Rabiul Haque (Dainik Manabkantha) and Tasnim Mohsin (Dainik Bonik Btara).
Earlier, the AGM of the DCAB was held at the same venue with outgoing DCAB president Masud Karim in the chair.
Outgoing general secretary Bashir Ahmed and treasurer Rabiul Haque presented their annual reports in the AGM.
Former Bureau Chief of Associated Press (AP) Farid Hossain was the chief election commissioner along with election commissioners – senior journalists M Shafiqul Karim and Nizamuddin Ahmed.
DCAB founding president and also banglanews24.com Editor-in-Chief Alamgir Hossain congratulated the newly elected body.
