DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad asked the officials concerned to ensure a free and fair municipality election to begin on Wednesday (December 30) across the country.

He made this assertion at a briefing at Election Commission (EC) secretariat in city on the eve of the election.

The CEC reiterated that any sort of irregularities and partiality by the election officials will not be accepted.

However, the election will be held at 234 municipalities from 8:00am to 4:00pm on the day.

Election materials, including ballot boxes and papers, have been sent to the poll centers, he added.

He further said that law enforcers have been deployed to keep law and order situation under control at the poll areas.

Seeking cooperation from all, Kazi Rakib said that the EC will monitor the election.
