Poll clash kills one in Satkania

From Satkania, Chittagong:  A man was shot dead in a clash between rival groups over establishing supremacy at a polling center in Satkania municipality election on Wednesday.

 The deceased was identified as Nurul Amin, 49, son of Abdur Rahim of ward-9 of the municipality.

Deceased cousin M Abul Kalam told banglanews that the clash ensued between supporters of councilor candidates Mozammel haque and Monirul Islam at outside the Satkania government college vote center around 10:45am. At one stage of firing, Nurul Amin was caught line in the fire, leaving him injured critically.

He was rushed to a clinic in Keranihat in critical condition where duty doctor declared him dead.

Retuning officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Ullah said voting is underway in free and fair manner. There is no problem inside the center. But one was reportedly killed in firing between two groups.
