Girl dies at DMCH after setting herself on fire

DHAKA: A 19-year-old girl, who set herself on fire in Gazipur after her boyfriend broke up with her, succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Nusrat Jahan Shanta, daughter of Abbas Ali of Nakhalpara in the capital.

The 12th class student set herself on fire at her boyfriend Touhidur Rahman’ house in Kapasia area of Gazipur as he, now lives in Malaysia, misbehaved her over phone.

Touhidur’s uncle Shamim Sheikh said Shanta was rushed to burn unit of DMCH with 95% reported burn.

While undergoing treatment at the hospital, duty doctor declared her dead around 4:00am.
 
DMCH police outpost assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sentu Chandra Das informed the matter to banglanews.
