DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has categorically said her government has taken various steps to ensure the right and access to education for all.
“Every child must be educated. We are making that opportunity. Nobody should drop out due to poverty,” She added.
The premier has made this assertion Thursday (December 31) at a program organized in her official resident Ganabhaban in city.
The program was organized to hand over the PEC, JSC and JDC examinations results and to inaugurate the textbook distribution festival.
The Prime Minister further said, “The Father of the Nation wanted that the Bangali nation will be developed, enriched and well-educated. We are working to realize his dream”.
“The AL government has taken the responsibilities to distribute textbooks to children. We have taken initiatives and created the opportunity for education.”
In her speech, the PM also suggested the educational institutions to be self-sufficient. She recommended that the institutions can run through a fund created with the financial assistance from alumni of former students and philanthropists of the areas.
According to her, the schools can arrange tiffin for the kids from the fund.
“Then they wouldn’t have to be dependent on anybody. This is what the Father of the Nation has taught us.”
Mentioning the steps that AL government has taken for the development of education, the PM said that the government is giving scholarships to 128,000,000 students presently.
“Tk 1,000-crore is allotted in Prime Minister’s fund for education.”
“Moreover, the government is active on education for the autistic children and for their medical treatment as well.”
The PM has also mentioned about the brutality and atrocities of the Pakistani occupational force and their collaborators.
She remembered how the Father of the Nation focused on building this country standing on the debris after the war of independence.
“He started free and compulsory primary education. He also took various steps to build the foundation of the primary education.”
She further said, the AL government is working as a continuation of the development of education.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid, primary and mass education minister Mostafizar Rahman, higher officials from the ministries and heads of the education boards were also present in the program.
