Outfits clash kills outlaw in Pabna

PABNA: An outlaw was killed in a gunfight between two outfits over supremacy in Chatmohor upazila of Pabna district on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Rakibullah, 25, also an alleged cadre of Gaffar Group, hailed from Keshabpur village.

Chatmohor thana SI Siraj Uddin and Faridpur thana SI Shamim Hasan said the members of the banned Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Lal Pataka) and Naxal Bahini traded gunfight at Saratganj Bazar at around 8:30pm.

At least 20 rounds of bullets were traded during the encounter that left Rakibullah dead on the spot.

They said police recovered the body at around midnight and sent it to Pabna General Hospital. "Rakibullah belonged to the Naxal Bahini," says the police version.

Meanwhile, police picked up one suspect named Bakul from Sharatganj bazar and recovered one shooter gun "from his possession".

A case was filed with Chatmohor thana in this connection.
