MYMENSINGH: A roving investigation team of the International Crimes Tribunal on Thursday morning started their spot probe into the crimes committed in Mymensingh during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

Meanwhile, the investigators talked to local people during their spot visit, part of the probe under the current war-crime-trial proceedings.

They started their probe through a view-exchange meeting with local civil society members and public representatives at Muktagachha upazila parishad office at about 9:15am.

Present among others were local lawmaker principal Matiur Rahman, former lawmaker Khondakar Abdul Malek Shahidullah, upazila chairman advocate Badaruddin Ahmed, district commander of Muktijodhdha Sangsad Nazimuddin Ahmed and UNO Nasrin Jahan.

This is the sixth spot visit by the team in their hunt for material evidences of the incidents of genocide.

Earlier, the investigation team visited Mirpur, Chuknagar of Khulna, Pirojpur, Brahmanbaria and Sherpur.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami, Secretary-General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed, Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee and assistant secretaries-general Mohammad Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Mollah are now facing the war-crime trial.
