3, including 2 physicians, killed, 5 injured in Dinajpur accident

DINAJPUR: Two physicians of Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, among three, were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus in Ghoraghat area on Dinajpur-Rajshahi Highway Saturday.

The deceased are Professor Toyebuddin Ahmed, 55, and Professor Yusuf Ali of the Surgery Department, and the driver of the microbus.

Police said a microbus, carrying a team of seven physicians of Dinajpur MCH, collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction at Kanaighata at about 8am, killing the two professors on the spot and injuring six others.

The injured were admitted local health complex in critical condition where the driver succumbed to his injuries.

The doctors were going to Rajshahi by the microbus for joining a seminar when the tragedy struck down them.

A pall of gloom descended on the hospital as the news of the deaths spread.
