CHITTAGONG: A long traffic gridlock in Sitakunda area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway pushed hundreds of passengers into serious sufferings on Friday morning.

Local sources said the traffic jam was created from Thursday night as all types of vehicles started to run after ending the Jamaat called 48-hour hartal.

Besides, drivers got panicked and moved their vehicles to and fro to flee the spot as Jamaat-Shibir men set fire on two covered vans at around 9:00pm that also triggered a serious traffic jam.

Highway police Baroawliya thana Officer-in-Charge Sohel Imtiaj told banglanews, “A serious traffic jam was created on Friday morning but highway police is working to ease traffic jam.”
