BNP to halt war crimes trial

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday categorically said opposition BNP would stop the onward war crimes trial if they assume power in next general polls.

The primer, also ruling Awami League president, came up with the allegation while exchanging views with party’s district, upazila and municipality level presidents and general secretaries at Ganabhaban.

Sheikh Hasina said, “BNP regime during 2001-2006 shoved the country into a ditch of corruption, terrorism and chaos.”

She also said, “We wouldn’t win in the sprint of lying as Awami League always believe in peace and works for development and prosperity for the country.”
