Govt mulls establishing IT park in all divisional HQs: Yeafesh Osman

DHAKA: The government has a plan to establish IT park in all divisional headquarters, including the capital, Dhaka, as building a digital Bangladesh is its a flagship vision.

In reply to a query of MP from Cox’s Bazar-3 constituency Lutfor Rahman, State Minister for Science and ICT Yeafesh Osman informed the House Wednesday about the high-tech agenda.

The day’s Parliament session began at about 11:15am with Deputy Speaker Shawkat Ali presiding.

He said the ‘Basic Infrastructure Power High-tech Park’ has already been established at Kaliakoir of Gazipur district. In line with this, the government has decided to establish IT Park in country’s all divisional headquarters.

Replying to another question from Nur-e-Hasna Lily, MP of women’s reserved seat 43, Yeafesh Osman told the House that the government has taken up a plan for setting up Computer Labs in all the educational institutions through Bangladesh Computer Council.

“The government has initiated a scheme to set up at least two modern computer labs having five computers in each upazila in the current fiscal year,” the state minister informed the lawmakers.
