DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a suspected hijacker injured in a shootout at South Keraniganj in the city on Tuesday night.

The arrested person is Mizanur Rahman, 28.

RAB sources said Mizan was arrested from Muslimpara under East Chunkutia Thana of South Keraniganj with a local-made pipe-gun.

RAB-10 officer Enamul Kabir told banglanews24.com.bd plainclothes RAB personnel went towards Manowara Mosque of Muslimpara under East Chunkutia Thana of South Keraniganj by auto-rickshaw. A gang of bandits barred them in front of the mosque.

“The hijackers started firing sensing the identity of RAB. RAB also shot at hijackers. Mizanur fell to the ground, having been hit by bullet in the leg, and RAB held him. But his cohorts managed to flee,” says a RAB version of the shootout.

The injured was admitted into Mitford Hospital.
