GAZIPUR: At least nine people were killed and 30 others injured in devastating fire at Asowad Garment in Sreepur of Gazipur on Tuesday night.

The death toll may rise in the accident.

One of the deceased was identified as AGM of the factory Rashidul Islam while identity of other deceased could not be known immediately.

Sreepur Thana Officer-in-Charge Amir Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, In-Charge of Gazipur Fire Service Abu Zafar said that eight fire fighting units were trying to douse the fire for last 4-hr.

Witnesses said that the fire originated in the dying section of the garment and 5:45pm and soon spread out to the other sections.

Assistant manager of the factory Humayun Kabir said that the reason of the fire could not be known.
