20 including cops injured in Narail clash

NARAIL: At least 20 persons were injured including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police personnel in a clash between two groups in Purulia Mor area of Sadar upazila in the district at around 11.00am Wednesday.

The injured law enforcers were identified as Sadar Thana Sub-Inspector Manik Chandra Saha, Sub-Inspectors Rakib Uddin and Parimol Chandra Biswas and Constable Faridul Islam of Kalia Thana.

During the time police fired more than 100 rounds of rubber bullets.

Police sources said that the clash erupted between the supporters of local Jubo League leaders Zakatur Rahman and Monir Mia on the eid day as a result of a long standing clash.

While trying to prevent them, they attacked the police and RAB personnel, leaving six cops injured. Police fired 106 rounds of rubber bullets to take the situation under control.

During the time, agitated people vandalized a police car.

Confirming the matter, Assistant Police Superintendent (Circle) Masum Ahmed Bhuiyan told banglanews that the situation is under control now.
