Wild elephants trample 2 youths to death in Bandarban

Two people were killed and another one injured as a herd of wild elephants attacked them in Konapara area under Alikadam ulazila of Bandarban in early hours of Sunday.

The deceased were identified as- Mansur Alam, 18, and Humayun Kabir, 17.

The injured Md Zubaer, 18, son of Nurul Islam, is undergoing treatment at Alikadam upazila health complex. 

Rakib Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Alikadam police station, confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

According to police and local sources, some 11-12 wild elephants entered the Chaikhang union around 1:00 am Sunday. The animals carried out rampage in the area damaging croplands and several houses. At one stage, some of the elephants attacked the trio and trampled two of them dead on the spot and another injured.
