SIRAJGANJ: At least 25 people including two cops were injured in sporadic clashes between two groups of villagers centering a trifling matter in Belkuchi Upazila of the district on Saturday.  

Police and local sources said that there was an altercation among the youths of Adachaki and Sen Vangabari villages on Thursday.

Following the altercation, the villagers locked into sporadic clashes on Saturday while vandalized and torched some houses.

However police rushed to the spot and fired hundreds of rubber bullets and tear shells to take the situation under control.

Additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to thwart further clash.

The injured were rushed to Sirajganj General Hospital and Belkuchi Upazila Health Complex.

Belkuchi Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hai Sarkar confirmed the matter to banglanews.
