The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 71 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Tuesday (Dec 14).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 1,068 Yaba tablets, 733 grams of heroin, 186 bottles of Phensedyl, nine injectable drugs, 605 Tapentadol tablets and 13.31 kgs of hemp from their possessions.

DMP's Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Hafiz Al Asad has confirmed the news.

Based on information, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, he said.

A total of 49 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act, the DMP official added.
