The newly-formed Election Commission (EC) paid tribute to the Liberation War martyrs at the National Memorial in Saver on Tuesday (March 1).

The Election Commissioners led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal placed a floral wreath at the Memorial at 10:10 am. They stood in solemn silence for a minute there commemorating the martyrs.

Newly appointed four election commissioners former district and sessions judge Rashida Sultana, Brig Gen (retd) Md Ahsan Habib Khan, former EC secretary Md Alamgir, and former energy and mineral resources division senior secretary Anisur Rahman were present.

The CEC and four other election commissioners were sworn in On February 27 after President Md Abdul Hamid had appointed them on February 26.
