DHAKA: Troops deployed to support two government projects on machine-readable passport and visa preparation will return Wednesday to their barracks, an ISPR announcement said.

The army men were supporting the civil administration in running the projects titled ‘Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and Machine Readable Visa (MRV)’ at nine local-level passport offices in Chittagong, Comilla, Sylhet, Barisal, Gopalganj, Mymensingh, Jessore, Rajshahi and Rangpur.

A total of 110 army personnel were supporting the projects following a Home Ministry request. The assignment started on April 18.

They helped day-to-day project activities, filling up documents, records and data entry.

The ISPR said the task was ‘successfully operated’.
