A prisoner died in the Narsingdi District jail after suffering a stroke.

The prisoner name Sumon Mia (23) identified as the son of Shahjahan Miah hailing from Bakhan Nagar village in Sadar Upazila. He died around 3 pm on Friday (May 13).

According to the district prison officer Atiqur Rahman, the prisoner died of stroke. However, Alamin Shawn, the doctor on duty at the district hospital, refused to comment on the incident.

According to the district prison information, Sumon came to prison in September 2021 in a robbery case. Today during the jumma prayer time, he suddenly started having chest pain. He was first taken to prison hospital. When his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Narsingdi District Hospital. He died on the way to the hospital.

He died mainly due to stroke. His body was sent to the morgue of Sadar Hospital for autopsy. After the autopsy, his body will be handed over to his family, added Atiqur.
