JESSORE: Elder brother was killed allegedly by his younger following fratricidal feuds over fishing at Vulihat village in Avoynagar upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Janab Ali.

Police and hospital sources informed that the clash over catching fish erupted between the two brothers--Ebad Ali Munshi and Janab—in a sequel to a longstanding dispute. To resolve the dispute village arbitration was arranged at around 7:00am.

“At one stage of the arbitration, an irate Ebad hit Janab on the head with a stick that left him fatally injured,” says an eyewitness account of the incident. He died on way to hospital.

Officer-in-charge of Avoynagar Thana Ahsan Habib said that the killing happened for the two brothers’ blood feuds over fishing. The body was sent to Jessore General Hospital for autopsy.

A case was filed with Avoynagar Thana and police arrested Ebad.
