JESSORE: The daylong hartal, called by Jamaat-e-Islami, is underway in the district on Thursday.

The party is enforcing the general strike protesting the killing of Jamaat leader Abdul Hye Siddiki.

Our Correspondent reports that no untoward situation was reported till 9:00am.

Jessore District Jamaat Secretary Master Nurunnabi told banglanews, “In support of hartal Jamaat-Shibir men brought out procession in several spots of the district town.”

Meanwhile, though small vehicles were seen to ply through roads but no long route transport left the district.

Jessore Assistant Police Super (Sadar) Reshman Sharmin told banglanews, “Police forces were kept standby to face any untoward situation.”
