CHITTAGONG: An auto rickshaw driver was burnt as blockade supporters torched the vehicle in Chandgaon area of the port city on Thursday morning.

The victim is identified as Khorshed Alam, 50, resided in Firoj Shah Colony of Akber Shah Thana of port city.

Witnesses said that pouring petrol blockade supporters set fire to the auto rickshaw at around 6:30am and fled the scene, leaving its driver seriously burnt.

Later, passersby rushed him to burn unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of metropolitan police (north) Shahidullah confirmed the matter to banglanews.
