DHAKA: Opposition BNP claimed that the people of the country rejected the 10th parliamentary elections amid boycotting by 18-prty alliance.
Acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the assertion in a statement on Sunday.
In the statement, he congratulated and thanked the countrymen as they lent their heartiest support to urge of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to boycott the “farcical elections”.
The senior leader of the party said the government has defeated as people of the country rejected the polls.
Fakhrul added: “The government has attained hatred of the people of the country by holding insignificant and unacceptable elections.”
The spokesperson for the party also said the voter turnout in every polling station was very poor. “The situation has proved that people rejected the unilateral polls spontaneously,” he said.
