BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called on the international community to take urgent action against what he described as Israel’s “genocide” of Palestinians in Gaza, citing a recent UN commission report.

In a Facebook status posted on his official page today (Sep 17), Tarique Rahman said the UN findings were “detailed and direct” in concluding that Israel is responsible for crimes under the 1948 Genocide Convention. He stressed that “no more excuses or hiding behind propaganda can continue.”

Tarique Rahman urged world leaders to use all economic, political, and diplomatic means to secure an immediate and lasting ceasefire, while ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. He also called on Bangladeshis at home and abroad to raise their voices and push their leaders to stand firmly with Palestine.

“History teaches us to act morally and bravely, even when it may not be the easiest path. We cannot stand by when the very existence of Palestinians is at risk,” he added.

The BNP leader said that states “have the tools to make a difference” and must act decisively to uphold international law and human morality.
